Missing Slideshow Images: A BeatSlide Troubleshooting Checklist
Quick answer
If an image is missing, first distinguish a local-file problem from a webpage-import problem or a remote-host failure. Each path has different size, access and loading checks.
First: identify which step failed
| Symptom | Likely check | Practical next step |
|---|---|---|
| Local file never appears | Format, decode or minimum dimensions | Try a readable JPG/PNG at least 200×200 |
| URL shows only a site logo | Restricted or incomplete page content | Use an accessible gallery or permitted local files |
| Page import finds nothing | Login, banners, scripts or blocked requests | Open the original page and check access |
| Only part of a gallery imports | Candidate and successful-image limits | Curate the results or add permitted files |
| Imported photo later breaks | Expired URL or hotlink protection | Use a permitted stable source or local file |
| Phone slows after many files | Memory pressure | Remove items or use smaller files |
Check a local file
The file must have an image MIME type the browser recognizes and decode successfully. Both width and height must be at least 200 pixels. A tall 150×1200 image still fails because its width is below the threshold. The local-file path can skip small images without adding them to the list.
Try one ordinary image before selecting a large group. If it works, add more gradually. File size matters: data URLs and decoded images consume memory, especially on phones. There is no universal collection size that is safe on every device.
Check the source page
Open the page yourself. Does it need a login, cookie decision or another permission step before images appear? Can the content be viewed without your browser’s existing session? A public-looking URL can still serve a restricted page to an extraction request.
BeatSlide cannot authenticate to Instagram or another service as you. Firecrawl-assisted extraction and fallbacks do not guarantee interaction with every banner. Do not attempt to bypass restrictions; upload permitted source files instead.
Understand partial results
For a webpage, the importer validates at most 80 candidates and adds at most 50 successful images per extraction. Page-extracted images must load and meet minimum dimensions. Detection may also find thumbnails instead of full-resolution material.
Direct image loading is a separate path and currently does not share the same size check. A successful direct URL can therefore still look poor in fullscreen if its source resolution is small.
Check a remote image after importing
A validated URL can fail later if it expires, requires cookies or blocks hotlinking. The app retains a remote URL rather than saving a permanent copy. If permitted, selecting a downloaded local file avoids dependence on that remote host during display.
Preserve earlier work
Adding another URL appends rather than clears the current image list. Remove only the unwanted entries with the trash control, then drag remaining items into order. Repeating an import can add duplicates across runs, so review the numbers and thumbnails afterward.
Reloading the page loses the in-memory list; it is not the first troubleshooting step when you want to preserve current images. The app has no saved playlist recovery. For sensitive URLs, avoid sending private tokens to extraction services and consult the privacy guide.
