BeatSlide on Mobile: Audio, Touch Controls and Screen Wake
Quick answer
BeatSlide runs in a mobile browser with touch controls. Audio, keeping the screen awake and returning from a hidden tab depend on device and browser permissions, so test those behaviors on your phone.
Start with a short check
Open the app, select a sound and start at a fixed BPM without images. Confirm where the sound plays before adding a large gallery. If silent, check media volume and whether Bluetooth or headphones are selected as the output. A browser may require a direct tap before it allows audio.
Silent mode is not the same as media volume, and its interaction with browser audio differs across devices. The app includes audio-start and resume handling, but this is not a guarantee that every iPhone silent-switch or Android background restriction is bypassed.
Image controls on a touchscreen
Select files through the Upload picker, or paste an eligible public URL. Your browser decides which photo-library or camera options appear. BeatSlide does not guarantee a camera shortcut on all devices.
Drag entries in the image manager to reorder. During playback, holding the displayed image freezes image advancement while audio continues. Tap or move to reveal controls; Stop ends playback. Touch drag and operating-system menus can behave differently, so confirm the gesture works on your device.
Keeping the display awake
The app requests a screen wake lock while playing when the browser supports it. The browser may reject or release that request, for example when the page is hidden. BeatSlide attempts to reacquire it when returning to the visible tab.
If the screen still turns off, check battery-saving restrictions and your display timeout setting. Keep the app visible. Do not assume a home-screen shortcut guarantees wake-lock or background-audio support.
Switching tabs or apps
Background tabs may have their timers throttled or audio suspended. The app tries to resume on return, but uninterrupted background playback is not guaranteed. If the sound does not return, use Stop then Start. Avoid relying on browser timing for a critical task while the tab is hidden.
Large collections and battery
Local files are read into memory. Many high-resolution images can put pressure on a phone’s available memory. Use fewer or smaller files if the page becomes slow, and remove images that you do not need. There is no measured promise here of a particular battery percentage per session.
Remote images additionally depend on network access and their hosts. Brightness, audio hardware and workload all affect battery consumption. Test a small collection first instead of assuming every recent phone handles a large gallery identically.
Privacy and shortcuts
A home-screen shortcut is convenient, but may leave an icon and does not prove reliable offline startup. Closing the tab removes the app’s in-memory image list; browser history, caches and external-service records are a different matter. See the privacy guide before using sensitive URLs.
