BeatSlide Metronome Sounds: All 11 Options Compared
Quick answer
BeatSlide offers 11 synthesized metronome sounds. Select a sound to preview it before playback; while the metronome is already running, changing the selection updates the beat without an extra preview.
Sound palette
These descriptions identify the generated character, not measured loudness, hearing safety or a scientifically best sound. Device speakers and headphones can make the same choice sound different.
| Sound | Character to listen for |
|---|---|
| Click | Short falling-pitch pulse |
| Beep | Brief electronic tone |
| Snap | Short noise-based attack |
| Cowbell | Paired oscillator tones with a metallic quality |
| Hi-Hat | Brief high-frequency noise |
| Rimshot | Percussive rim-like attack |
| Clave | Short pitched percussion-like click |
| Kick | Low falling-pitch pulse |
| Tick | Very short high-pitched square-wave pulse |
| Laser | Longer sweeping electronic pitch |
| Bubble | Rising and falling rounded pitch |
Woodblock is not in the current list. These are generated sounds rather than recordings of physical instruments. Choosing a sound does not alter BPM, random difficulty or slide speed.
Compare at one tempo
Leave Random off, select a fixed BPM, and compare two sounds at the same device volume. At 60 BPM there is a second between pulses, which is useful for hearing the shape of each sound. At higher rates some longer sounds may feel denser; whether that is enjoyable is a preference.
Use ordinary device volume controls. Start quietly, especially with headphones. Do not increase volume to compensate for an audio-routing problem before checking the output destination.
Preview behavior
A click or tap in initial settings is also the user interaction that allows browser audio to start. If preview is silent, check media volume, the connected audio output and whether the browser has blocked playback.
While a session is active, previews are deliberately suppressed so a selection does not add an extra unscheduled sound. The ongoing metronome uses the new sound on subsequent ticks. That silence is not a failed preview.
Mobile audio caveats
Silent-switch behavior and background playback depend on the browser and operating system. The app attempts to resume audio when the tab becomes visible, but cannot override every system restriction. Bluetooth output can introduce delay and may route sound to an unexpected device.
If returning to the tab leaves the beat silent, Stop and Start again to provide a fresh playback interaction. For device-specific checks, see the mobile guide rather than assuming one sound fixes a silent browser.
