Advanced Random BPM: Compare Presets Without Inventing Custom Ranges

Quick answer

Advanced use means understanding which variables you can control. BeatSlide random mode uses presets, not custom ranges, scheduled ramps or adjustable hold durations.

Separate preset variation from personal configuration

You can choose difficulty, sound and image timing. You cannot currently enter a random minimum/maximum range, set a jump size or program a multi-stage BPM sequence. A strategy that depends on those fields is not executable in the current app.

Compare Easy with Hard

Easy selects 80–120 BPM and holds 30–120 seconds with no automatic pauses. Hard selects 40–220 with 5–20 second holds and a 50% state-boundary pause chance. This changes several things at once: range, timing and pauses. It is not an isolated test of speed.

If you only want to compare two speeds, use fixed mode instead. Random draws can repeat or remain close, so an individual short run need not visibly demonstrate the full range.

Keep images slow while random audio varies

Use Fixed timer, for example 3 seconds, when you want tempo variation without equally rapid image changes. Sync to beat is the contrasting option: every beat advances an image and its pace follows BPM.

There is no every-two-beats, every-four-beats or custom rhythm pattern selector. Holding an image suppresses image advancement without pausing the beat or tempo-state clock.

Understand pauses statistically

Medium has a 30% pause chance at each eligible state boundary; Hard has 50%. Those probabilities do not prescribe a regular pause pattern. Several boundaries can pass without a pause, or pauses can occur at successive eligible boundaries.

Medium pauses last 3–15 seconds; Hard pauses last 5–30 seconds. The countdown indicates automatic resumption, not a required rest period. Stop remains available during it. A fixed slide timer may continue behind the overlay.

Repeating a comparison

Stop and Start to begin a fresh session when inspecting a new preset. Record settings outside the app if useful, but do not expect an identical random sequence or an exported session log. BeatSlide does not seed reproducible random sessions or measure a score.

Avoid performance targets disguised as strategy

There is no verified benefit to reducing breaks, tolerating faster BPM or extending a session. A wider range is a different software pattern, not proof of greater skill. Choose settings for preference, use Stop freely and avoid treating device timing or random variation as a controlled health experiment.
